Steadfast Duel 2025

From 17 to 29 October, the NATO Space COE was in Stavanger for Steadfast Duel 2025, NATO’s largest annual operational exercise, bringing together all 32 Allies.

Hosted by NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC), STEADFAST DUEL provided NATO’s commands with a 24/7 simulated battlespace to test regional defence plans and multi-domain operations.

The exercise strengthened coordination, planning, and readiness across air, land, maritime, cyber, and space. By turning NATO concepts into practice, STEADFAST DUEL reinforces collective deterrence, defence, and the Alliance’s ability to operate as a single, unified force.

The NATO Space COE contributed by acting as Space OPFOR while another staff member served on the Evaluation team as a Space Subject Matter Expert within JFC-Brunssum, the primary training audience.

The aim of the Exercise is to train the operational and strategic levels of NATO capabilities in a multidomain environment. As the latest operational domain, Space is undeniably an appealing topic, and our staff supported its effective integration throughout the exercise.
