Steadfast Deterrence 2025

STDC25 was led by NATO Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons, Belgium and conducted by the NATO Joint Warfare Centre in Stavanger, Norway. This exercise aims to reinforce NATO’s defense posture and designed to strengthen NATO’s deterrence at the operational and strategic levels.

The NATO Space COE supported STDC25 by playing the role of space OPFOR (opposing forces) and providing space expertise within the Strategic Evaluation team which assessed SHAPE – the primary training audience in this exercise – as a Strategic Warfighting Headquarters (SWHQ).

STDC25 was the opportunity to train the SWHQ at scale, side by side with the United States European Command (EUCOM) and within a Theatre-wide crisis including all Deterrence and Defense of the Euro-Atlantic Area and NATO Force Model aspects.
