Steadfast Jupiter 2023
From 5th till 19th of October, the NATO Space COE supported NATOs largest Command Post Exercise: STEADFAST JUPITER (STJU) 2023, in Stavanger (Norway).
Sponsored by Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) and directed by the Joint Warfare Centre, exercise STJU is the most ambitious NATO Computer Assisted Exercise (CAX), in both, exercise complexity and number of participants: nearly 7000 military and civilian personnel from NATO and partner countries at 27 different locations across Europe and North America. He trains 24 training audiences in planning for and conducting an Article 5 operation in different Joint Operations Areas (JOAs).
NATO Space COE, in close collaboration with Joint Air Power Competence Centre, supported the exercise in educating and training the other domains (Land, Air, Maritime and Cyber) about:
- the dependencies of modern armed forces on the battlefield on Space products and services;
- increased the awareness of commanders which actions must be taken in their domains to protect access to space capabilities and maintain lethality on the battlefield.
Therefore, NATO Space COE already participated in the Scripting Workshop in June/July to create blue and red Space-related incidents/actions for the Exercise Storybook, and coordinated all these planned events and their impacts with the other domains.
The NATO Space COE is glad to be part of the growing Space Exercise Community with participants from SHAPE, Allied Command Transformation, NATO Communications and Information Agency, and is looking forward to supporting future NATO exercises with Space expertise and training.
