The NATO Space COE team expanded its network by introducing the COE, its objectives, and work activities to various institutional and industrial actors. These meetings included:

• Colonel Jason Galuga, Canadian Defence Attaché at the Embassy of Canada in France, Mr. Steve Iris, Counsellor for European Space Affairs at the Embassy of Canada, and Mr. Jean-Claude Piedboeuf, Senior Vice President for Space Programs at the Canadian Space Agency.
• General (retired) Stephane Abrial, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (2009-2012), with the Synopia, le laboratoire des gouvernances Think-Tank.
• General Jérôme Bellanger, Chief of the French Air and Space Force.
• Charlotte Voisin, Economic Development & Inward Investment Advisor for Aeronautics and Space at Toulouse Team Invest.
• And many others stakeholders!
  
  The event was fruitful for exchange opportunities with institutions, defense, and industrial partners in the space domain. The NATO Space COE Director, Colonel Sylvain DEBARRE, also attended the Air and Space Chiefs Conference during the event.

The NATO Space COE was proud to exhibit at the 40th Space Symposium, held from 7–10 April 2025 in Colorado Springs, United States.

Hosted by the Space Foundation, the event gathered thousands of global space leaders across the commercial, civil, and defence sectors, representing nearly 50 countries.

An excellent opportunity to:

• Attend a compelling and insightful conference,
• Expand our space community network,
• Engage with leading authorities in the space sector,
• Showcase the NATO Space COE’s mission and activities!

It was the opportunity to outreach our activities in Space during our ramp up phase!

The great interest in our activities was reflected in numerous questions about our program of work, the status of the upcoming Space Doctrine or future involvements in training and exercises in Space discipline.

The two-day program explores the challenges and opportunities for NATO’s Air domain and delves deeply into the complexities of our changing security environment. Topics like a world reshaped and the battlefield evolution to underline the role of Joint Air Power in contemporary conflict were discussed during the first day.

This moment of outreach was an opportunity to explain:

• Our activity and program of work;
• The capacity to grow during the ramp-up phase;
• Sponsoring nations and staff organization.

Each COE is specialized in their domain: military space is an essential subject of expertise that NATO needs to increase its space power of tomorrow!

The NATO Space COE was a great interest : the network was fruitful among NATO members and within other COEs also.

Co-hosted by NATO HQ International Military Staff and NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT), this inaugural NATO Space Symposium takes place on 29-30 April 2024 in Toulouse.

The event aims to leverage the Washington Summit as a catalyst for advancing Alliance development and integration of the space domain. Bringing together space experts from NATO, Allies, and space sector industrial: almost 300 attendees and 27 nations are present.

The NATO Space COE has a booth to present our activity, the opportunity for the members of divisions to explain our program of work to attendees. In addition, it’s an honour for the NATO Space COE Director, Colonel Sylvain DEBARRE, to be the Master of Ceremony and moderator of the conclusion panel at this important event!

The NATO booth welcomed many of visitors, including the highest NATO authorities, such as General Philippe Lavigne, Supreme Allied Commander for Transformation (SACT) and Vice Admiral Jeffrey W. Hughes, Deputy Chief of Staff for Capability Development at NATO ACT.

This Space Symposium, organized by the Space Foundation is an incredible opportunity to:

• Attend high level Space conferences;

• Exchange with industrials and Allied Nations;

• Explain to visitors the NATO Space COE stakes;

• Share the transversality of our missions with ACT.

Hosted by Joint Air Power Competence Centre (JAPCC) at Essen in Germany, the conference was focused on “Enhancing Deterrence and Defence through Joint Air Power”.

Panels discussed among other:

• Recent changes in our security environment;

• Availability and resilience of Joint Air & Space Power to prepare and be ready for high-intensity multi-domain operations;

• The future development of Joint Air & Space Power capabilities for Collective Defence.

The NATO Space COE had the opportunity to host a booth:

• To present an update on its status;

• To communicate about its ramp-up phase;

• To network with most of the main aerospace actors (Armed forces and Industry).

The NATO Space COE supported NATO booth in the United States Space Symposium to highlight NATO’s approach to the Space Domain and engaging with high-level participants from national space agencies, industry and academia.

The Space Symposium offered a platform to engage with its Allies and commercial service partners to encourage cooperation, enhance interoperability, and identify Space support in NATO operations, missions, and activities.

The delegations built strategic partnerships and participated in workshops with senior Space authorities. They identified future opportunities and collaborations on Space domain implementation and met with leading nations to seek support for operational Space support, education and training, and command and control.
